Beth Pierpoint, MSPT developed an interest in sports medicine while performing as a collegiate softball pitcher and pitching coach for the University of Nevada. During Physical Therapy School in 1991, she also strengthened this desire as Pacific University's pitching coach during her tenure in school.
After school, Beth Pierpoint, MSPT traveled the country providing therapy to underserved areas for three years before coming to Alabama to join HEALTHSOUTH Sports Medicine.
Beth Pierpoint, MSPT has been providing physical therapy services in Alabama since 1995. She served as a Director for HEALTHSOUTH Sports Medicine until 2003, where she was also Clinical Specialist for the development of a new gait training device called the AutoAmbulator.
She is the author of two books, 'A Morning Cup of Strengthening', and 'A Morning Cup of Stretching'. Both books are designed to provide exercise programs for people of any age at home without any excercise equipment.
In 2003, she joined the St. Vincent's team to assist in the development of St. Vincent's One Nineteen Health & Wellness. She was responsible in assisting in the design, development and management of the Sports Medicine area, as well as becoming the Director of Clinical Services leading three separate teams in Physical Therapy, Cardiology Services, and Diagnostic Services.
In January of 2007, her long time dream of becoming her own boss was realized with the opening of Premiere Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine.
Her specialties include: Orthopedic therapy, Aquatic Therapy, Manual Therapy as well as special programs for female softball players/pitchers and golf. She is also one of the only trained therapists in the area for Forced Use training in Body Weight Support Training using the LiteGait to overcome neurological disabilities with ambulation. She also specializes in dizziness and balance with central and peripheral vertigo patients.
She continues to have interests in research and is currently working on obesity programs, lyme disease programs and and intense training for balance with the use of the Wii.
One of her new hobbies has been training for USA Triathlons, and will be participating this year. She was also chosen with some of World's finest physicians and trainers in USAT to participate in the medical team area for the 2009 USA Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.
